The Tumwater Canyon is a river canyon in the state of Washington near where Ben Warren spent his childhood. In addition to its calm swimming holes and beautiful scenery, the Tumwater Canyon is famous for its Class V Rapids.
The American Whitewater Association defines Class V rapids as “Extremely long, obstructed, or very violent rapids which expose a paddler to added risk. Drops may contain large, unavoidable waves and holes… Rapids may continue for long distances between pools, demanding a high level of fitness…Proper equipment, extensive experience, and practiced rescue skills are essential..” They are the type of experience that is dangerous to take on alone, but an experienced guide can take you through the dangers to places most people only dream of seeing.
We can’t think of a better metaphor for long term investing.
I’m originally from Leavenworth, Washington. I moved to the Boise area to attend Northwest Nazarene University where I played catcher and was team captain for the University’s baseball team. I graduated with a degree in Business Administration in 2002.
I began working as a financial advisor in 2004 and earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation in 2011. I’m currently a member of both the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Idaho and was honored in 2014 by the Idaho Business Review as one of the Accomplished 40 Under 40 in 2014.
I’m one of the lucky people that genuinely loves what they get to do for a living. Guiding good people through critical decisions in their financial lives is the most amazing privilege.
I can’t imagine doing anything else.
When I’m not at work you’ll find me at one of my four(!) daughters’ school or sporting events, reading, or spending time in Idaho’s great outdoors with my amazing wife and kids.
